Travel & Accommodation

Travelling by car

Wedding ceremony: Histon Baptist has a car park to the side of the church, please follow directions from those overseeing the car park. If the car park is full, there is usually space on nearby streets, but please do so with consideration for local residents and avoid blocking driveways. We can’t park on the grass areas at the front and along the side of the building.

As there is limited parking, you may want to park at Maddingley Park and Ride and get the Tiger 2 bus to Histon Baptist Church (or the Park and Ride 1 into Cambridge and the A or 8 to Histon).

Reception: The 24/7 Madingley Road Park & Ride (Google Maps) is a 5-10 minute walk from the reception venue and offers 18 hours of free parking, or more for a fee. It is just off junction 13 on the M11. Storey's Field Centre itself doesn't have a car park and there is little nearby street parking.

There are three dedicated parking bays near Storey’s Field Centre for people with disabilities.

Public transport

Rail: The nearby train stations are Cambridge (CBG) and Cambridge North (CMB); both are options if you're taxiing or cycling. For bus connections, Cambridge is much better than Cambridge North. Cambridge is about an hour from London by train.

Buses: To get to Histon Baptist Church, take the Stagecoach “A” bus from Cambridge Central Station or from Drummer Street bus station in the centre of town. The number 8 or Tiger 1 buses from Drummer Street bus station in the centre of town will also get you to Histon.

The best bus to get from Histon Baptist to Storey’s Field Centre in Eddington is the Tiger 2 bus (which runs hourly and is direct).

The "Universal" U1 and U2 buses connect Cambridge Station, central Cambridge and Storey's Field Centre. The Park & Ride bus PR1 also links Eddington and Central Cambridge. In general, Cambridge buses don't run late into the evening.

Other Transport

The nearest airport is Stansted, which offers a short, direct train to Cambridge.

You can call Veezu on 01223 715715 for taxis, or use their app. You could also use Uber.

Storey’s Field Centre is single-level and accessible throughout. Click "Contact" on the Storey's Field Centre website for more information about transport links.

Accommodation

There are some places to stay in Eddington itself, including Turing Locke apartments (who can offer some accessible apartments) and Hyatt Centric Cambridge. However, there is also plenty of accommodation available in Cambridge, which is a short, easy journey by taxi or bus (see above); you might find good rates on student accommodation, which is mostly vacant over the summer.
